3. Demand-Side Management – State of Affairs
Claire Fulenwider, NW Energy Efficiency Alliance will join the Board to share her views on recent success stories in achieving energy efficiency and some of the major initiatives that are moving forward.
4. Electric Power & Natural Gas Summit
The NW Gas Association, PNUCC and BPA are planning a natural gas-electricity conference for early 2012. Dan Kirschner, Executive Director for NWGA, will join the Board to discuss the outline for the conference. The Board will be asked for guidance and direction on the scope and topics for the future conference.
5. 2012 Northwest Regional Forecast
PNUCC is embarking on the 2012 Northwest Regional Forecast. Staff will highlight key elements of next year’s report as well as discuss the overall schedule for exchanging information with utility staff.
6. What’s Happening with Wind
The Wind Integration Forum identified seven major actions at their June meeting. This Forum has focused many of the ongoing efforts to address the challenges associated with integrating significant amounts of wind into the Northwest power system. The Board will be briefed on the status of these efforts.
7. Check-In on PNUCC Priorities
The Board will briefly touch on the following areas of activity and identify work efforts to focus on until they meet again in January.
- Columbia River Treaty Review
There is another series of meetings this week to further the review of the option to terminate the coordinated power operations of the Columbia River Treaty with Canada. The Board will learn about the scenarios to be analyzed in order to inform a decision to terminate these operations, as well as discuss the recent activities of the Power Group.
- Resource Adequacy Forum – New Standard
The NW Power & Conservation Council and Bonneville Power sponsored Resource Adequacy Forum will meet next week for their annual gathering. On the agenda is a proposal for a new standard for regional resource adequacy. The Board will consider the implication of group’s work.
